Teacher Mentoring for 2025-2026

Iyengar Mentorship Program

Deepen Your Practice. Share the Light.

The Mentoring Program at YJ Collingwood offers yoga teachers and aspiring teachers the chance to immerse themselves in the art, science, and philosophy of Yoga.

Grounded in the Iyengar lineage, it’s for those with a sincere desire to understand Yoga more deeply, live its principles, and share that wisdom with others.

A living apprenticeship

What Makes This Program Unique

Mentorship in the Iyengar tradition is a living apprenticeship — a close, ongoing relationship between mentor and mentee.

Through observation, practice, and guided teaching, you’ll learn not just what to teach but how to see, respond, and grow.

This one-to-one commitment mirrors how yoga has always been passed on: with care, trust, and shared dedication.

“A teacher teaches a particular subject. A mentor becomes your friend to walk the path of life—and Yoga is a way of life.” — Abhijata Iyengar

Founder, Lead Instructor

Lori Berenz

In 1998, Lori Berenz stepped into her first Iyengar Yoga class — a moment that would change the course of her life. What began as a personal exploration quickly grew into a calling. By 2004, Lori had traded in her corporate career for the yoga mat, dedicating herself to teaching and sharing the practice full time.

Now a Certified Senior Iyengar Yoga teacher and the director of Yoga Journey in Collingwood, Lori teaches with warmth, clarity, and a deep respect for yoga’s transformative power. Her classes are designed not just to strengthen the body but to awaken awareness, resilience, and joy. Students appreciate her ability to connect on both a physical and emotional level, making practice accessible, fun, and meaningful.

A lifelong advocate for the environment, Lori has followed a plant-based lifestyle since her teens. Her love of nature is woven into her teaching, connecting students not only to themselves but also to the natural world around them.

Forever a student herself, Lori continues to study with the Iyengar family in Pune, India, and with senior teachers worldwide. She also mentors aspiring instructors, helping them build confidence and authenticity as they step into their own teaching journeys. Lori also sits on the Board of IYAC/ACYI (Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada).
