Restorative Practice and Pranayama Workshop, Saturday November 8th from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Restorative practices are often misunderstood in their importance in overall health and well-being and the integral part they play in allowing us a deeper and more meaningful approach to our regular yoga asana practice. Restorative yoga heals both the body and the mind and is a great tool of self-care that addresses a lot of the negatives for our modern lifestyles. BKS Iyengar has been quoted as saying, “Asanas are like Kindergarten, Pranayama is like a PhD. Loosely defined as “breath control”, Pranayama is a gift. Learning how to inhale and exhale properly to maximize the capacity of our breath potential is truly invaluable. During the change of seasons we experience a decrease in sunlight, colder weather, busy schedules, and an increase in common ailments (cold/flu). BKS Iyengar also famously said, “Yoga gives us the ability to cure that which should not be endured and endure that which cannot be cured.” It is in this practice that we foster our healing process. Proper use of yoga props in essential in this practice and so we will take some time to cover this topic as well. Cost is $40. Pre-registration is required. All are welcome.
